This collection is inspired by the crafts that influenced the lives of my mom and two grandmothers. I use vintage linens, handkerchiefs and crocheted afghans to create a nostalgic feeling. I integrate machine knitwear to bring in the element of craft and collage, in reference to my grandmother’s crafts. In addition to incorporating sustainable materials, I also use sustainable techniques. The use of natural dyes, organic indigo, sandalwood, madder root and bundle dyeing with flowers, accentuates the vintage feel while also celebrating sustainability. I also utilized sample and plus sizes. For my photoshoot I used my mom and sister as models to reiterate the importance of family in this collection.
